Harald Kowa, MD, FAAP

Dr. Kowa has been a well-known and popular Pediatrician in Asheville since 1991. He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He completed his Residency in Pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kowa is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the North Carolina Pediatric Society, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Buncombe County Medical Society.

Dr. Kowa is a member of several boards and committees dedicated to better community and healthcare services for children in the Asheville area.

Dr. Kowa and his wife, Karen, are the parents of four children. When not spending time with his very active family, he enjoys biking and following the Florida Gators. He is proud to have completed cycling the entire Blue Ridge Parkway over 6 consecutive days and has completed several of the most difficult Century bicycle rides in our area.

Dr. Kowa is a very competent and respected physician and loves coming to work to “play with the kids.” He enjoys seeing children of all ages and takes a special interest in children with learning and behavior difficulties. He was also the leading physician for the effort to provide mental health services to be available in the Pediatric office setting.

Peggy O'Hara, MD, FAAP

Dr. Peggy O'Hara (Dr. Peggy) is joining Blue Sky Pediatrics after serving as an interim pediatrician for McDowell Pediatrics in Marion.  She has already established her home in Asheville.  She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky and completed her residency at Children's Hospital of Austin in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Peggy is a Board Certified Pediatrician and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as a member of the North Carolina Pediatric Society.  She has 15 years of experience in rural pediatrics in Montana and Utah.

Dr. Peggy and her husband, Paul, are the parents of two young sons, Noah & Sawyer.  They moved back to the Southeast to be near both of their families.  "We decided it was time to trade the Rocky Mountains for the Smoky Mountains and are very happy here.".  She has been described by her peers and patients as great at educating, supporting, and working with families to provide the best care for their children.

Dr. Peggy has residency training in Psychiatry and this helps her in all aspects of treating children with behavioral disorders.  She looks forward to working with families, using her knowledge and experience to help with the challenges of parenting from birth to young adults.  "I chose to work with children because I think one can have an impact in their health-both mental and physical.  I believe in treating the 'whole' child by listening, validating and respecting them."  "I am very fortunate to work with such a special population."
